Solving the Problem With Ink System Error

This error message (‘Problem with Ink System’) appears on the computer while setting up the product and hence also results in the product not printing.
This message continues on to tell you to ‘Please remove the ink cartridges and examine them for any sign of leaks. If any cartridges have leaks, contact HP. Do not use cartridges that are leaking. If there are no leaks, re-install cartridges and close the printer cover. Turn the printer off  and Turn it on again. When you find this message show up on your computer, continue towards following the below instructions in the right order below to help fix the issue. If you notice one of these solutions have fixed the problem, then you don’t have to move forward in following the other steps.

Solution 1: Checking for leaks in the cartridges

To resolve this issue, follow these steps in the order to remove the cartridges and to inspect them for leaks.To know more about the leaks and way to fix it 123.hp.com/oj4630

  1. Now you will need to open the carriage door and as soon as you open it, the carriage moves to the left side of the product. Hold on till the carriage is still and quiet before moving on to the next step.
  2. To remove the cartridge out of the cartridge slot you will need to first push in on the side of the cartridge facing you and then when the cartridge is released out, pull the cartridge out.
  3. Now we will check if the cartridge has any signs of leakage. We must ensure that the cartridge does not leak ink on your skin or clothing. If you find that the cartridge is leaking, then do not move forward in this troubleshooting guide. You must now return this cartridge to your retailer or you can reach out to HP through the HP website.

Important:  Only use the Setup cartridge that comes with your printer to avoid any setting up failures.

  1. Now take the cartridge and hold it in such a way that its contacts are facing towards the inside of the printer.

Note:   Ensure that you place the right cartridge in the right slot by making sure that the coloured dots on the cartridge matches the coloured dots on the slots.

  1. Keep trying out these above steps for the other remaining cartridges to ensure that they are all not leaking.

Solution 2: Performing a power reset by switching off and on your printer

  1. Hold down on the power button () to switch OFF your printer.

Note: Pull out the power cord of your printer if your printer does not switch off after pressing on the Power button.

  1. Hold on for about 60 seconds before moving on to the next step.
  2. Hold down on the power button () to switch ON your printer.

 Note:  The printer might go through a warm-up phase, which might last several minutes, hold on for a while till the warm-up phase before moving on to the next step.

Solution 3: Getting your printer serviced

If you have tried all these steps and still have not succeeded in successfully resolving the issue, then you must get your HP printer serviced or replaced.
