The installation and driver options available for HP LaserJet Pro m402n printers are printer setup by downloading the software or using the installation CD that comes with the printer. Choose any one option which is easier to setup the printer with the USB connection.
123 HP Printer – Downloading the software in Windows.
You can download the printer software by following any one of the given method. Do not connect the USB cable before software installation if you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. The installation process prompts to connect the cable at the appropriate time .

Method 1
- Visit the 123.hp.com and from the select printer drop down menu, select HP LaserJet Printer and click Begin.
- Click Download when the connect screen displays. HP Easy Start will be downloaded by the computer.
- Follow the below given steps to install the printer software.
Method 2
- Download the printer software from https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-m402-m403-series/7458626/drivers . Select the printer from the list of similar printers on the page if prompted. In the drop-down list, select your language and select the computer’s operating system. In the Driver-Product Installation Software, review the available software and driver options.
- Click Download after selecting one driver item. The HP installer will open once the software is downloaded.
- The HP Installer has six parts to install the printer software. They are software installation, installation preparation, connecting the product, installation, product configuration and completing the installation setup successfully.
- Initially you should select the software type to be installed. Click Next if you are proceeding with the recommended software installation. Click Customize software selections to customize the software and Click Next when the software selections are finished.
Click More Options in the drop down menu to access additional support options and tools. - Accept to the installation agreements and settings documents. Start the installation preparation by clicking Next.
- Click Next after installation preparation is complete. Choose the Connection Type as USB and click Next.
- Check whether your printer is turned on and connected to the computer using the USB cable when the Connect your product now screen displays on your Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows Vista only. The successful connection message will be displayed on the screen if the process is complete.
- Review the configuration options and modify it on the Product Configuration. Click Next. Review the information about HP ePrint and other HP Apps on the Enable HP Web Services screen and Click Next.
- Enable the HP Web Services using the EWS. Complete the installation process successfully by clicking Finish.
123 HP Printer – Installing using the installation CD
- Insert the installation CD in your computer’s CD driver. The operating system’s language will be detected by the software installer and the main menu of the installation program will be displayed in the same language.
- Finish the below given step if the installer did not start even after 30 seconds. Click the Run option in the Start menu and type X:\SETUP.EXE (where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive), the installer program will start after clicking the OK button.
