HP Envy 4520 Printer Connectivity

HP Envy 4520 printer provides many connectivity methods to connect to your computer. Make sure you use a proper connection method on your printer. Some of the connectivity methods available are Ethernet, wireless, USB, Wi-Fi Direct and HP Smart app whereas the 123.hp.com/envy4520 printer does not support the Ethernet connectivity. Utilize the following information given to setup your HP Envy 4520 printer on any connectivity method of your choice.

1. Wireless network connection

Wireless network connection is used widely all over the world. It is the best way to connect your printer to the computer. 802.11b/g/n-2.4GHz network is the requirement to use the wireless network connection on your HP Envy 4520 printer. The steps given below will help you to setup the wireless connection and install the necessary software for the connection.

Keep the things ready that are required to setup the wireless network connection. Network name or Service Set Identifier and the network password or WEP key or WPA security passphrase should be kept ready. Connect your computer to a wireless network. You need an active internet connection. It is recommended to have a broadband internet access such as cable or DSL to download the software and get printer updates regularly.

Check whether the router and computer are switched and the computer are connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer. Switch on the printer and keep it close to the computer. Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables connected to your printer.

Switch on the HP Envy 4520 printer and touch the wireless icon on the control panel. The screen will exhibit the Wireless screen. Tap on the settings icon and tap on the Wireless Setup Wizard. Tag along with the instructions that are given on the control panel.
Download the HP Envy 4520 printer software from 123.hp.com/envy4520 or support.hp.com. Enter your printer model number in the Search box and click Search.

Click Download after selecting the software you wish to download on your computer. The HP Installer will be launched on your computer. Follow the onscreen prompts and select the connectivity type as Wireless when you are prompted to choose the connection type.

2. USB Connection

Initially, you have to prepare for the printer setup after gathering the necessary items such as turning on the printer and keeping it in a ready state. You need a USB cable which is less than 3 meters in length.

You need to connect the USB to the available USB port on your computer. Connecting through a USB hub or docking stating may lead to power problems.

The printer USB cable should be detached from the computer. Remember that you should not reconnect the cable until you are prompted. In Windows, search for the devices and you will find the Devices and Printers. Click on the option.

Right-click on the printer model that is shown in the Devices and Printers window, click Remove Device. Remove all possible icons that exist for the printer. Close the Devices and Printers window and install the driver.

Visit 123.hp.com/envy4520 and type your printer model number. Click Download to download the full feature driver and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation setup.

Choose the USB connectivity when prompted by the installer to select the printer connection option and finish the setup. You can also use the installation CD to install the printer software. Restart the printer and computer.

Reconnect the cable and connect to a different USB port. You should disconnect from a USB hub or docking station. You can also try different USB cable length with the length 3 meters. Disconnect the other USB devices.

4. Wi-Fi direct connection

Switch on the Wi-Fi Direct from 123.hp.com/envy4520 control panel. Make sure the Wi-Fi radio is switched on in your mobile device or computer. The method is to connect the Wi-Fi Direct is similar to the method followed for any other wireless network.

The Wi-Fi Direct always uses a WPA2 passphrase and cannot be turned on without WPA2 security. Install the printer software on your computer and choose the wireless connectivity option as the connectivity method. If you have any doubts in connecting to a wireless network, refer the steps given in the wireless network connection. Install the latest version of the HP printer plug-in application.

Connect the printer to a network connection if you have already connected the printer. Connect the computer to the HP wireless direct or Wi-Fi Direct connection as previously described. You need not install any additional software to Wi-Fi direct connection to your printer.

If you have already connected the printer over a network connection, have installed the printer software on your computer, and have been using the printer over the network, then do the following to print when connected to HP wireless direct or Wi-Fi Direct.

Connect the Wi-Fi Direct connection as previously described. Make use of the printer the same you did over the network connection. However, your computer can only be connected to the printer OR your home network, not both at the same time.
Choose Connect Later option from the software during installation if you have already installed and utilized the printer with a USB cable and do the following Connect the computer to Wi-Fi Direct connection as previously described. Configure the settings for the printer software.

In Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start in the taskbar and click HP {your printer model}. You need to click Printer Setup & Software.

Select Utilities on the top of the Printer Software screen. Select Printer Setup & Software. Select Connect a new printer
